Longer words are set smaller to fit the frame, all the way to the 24 character limit. At that length the word is set around a third the height of a short one, so it reads as a caption rather than a heading.

Which date format to stamp, and who reads it
Competing tools give you a date picker and one format, usually the one their developer grew up with. That is the part worth thinking about for thirty seconds, because a stamp is not a database field. It is ink on a page that some other person, possibly in another country and possibly two years from now, has to read without asking you what you meant.
Below is the same day, 4 March 2026, in every format this date stamp generator offers, with who each one is actually for. The examples are generated by the same code that draws the stamp, so nothing in this table can drift away from what the tool does.

What YYYY-MM-DD is actually good at
ISO 8601 puts the largest unit first, which has a side effect worth more than the standard itself: sorting the strings as plain text also sorts them by date. That is why the format keeps turning up in filenames and archives rather than in letters, and it is the one property in this table you can check for yourself rather than take on trust.
Read the mandate carefully, though, because it is narrower than it gets quoted as being. The UK government open standard requires ISO 8601 for machine-readable dates, listing APIs, data transferred between systems, and date sorting such as at the start of filenames. The same page then says it does not apply where human readability is the main concern, giving dates written into the text of a document as its example. A rubber stamp on a piece of paper is squarely the second case. So the honest version is not that a standard tells you to stamp ISO 8601: it is that if the stamped page will be scanned and sorted, you are stamping into the case the standard does cover.
For a reader rather than a machine there is still a case for it. The Government of Canada's writing guidance says that for clarity, all-numeric dates should be written YYYY-MM-DD, with four numerals for the year and two each for month and day. That same page notes the alphanumeric form, with the month as a word, is the more common way to write a date in the first place, which is a fair summary of where this leaves you: numerals only, use ISO; otherwise spell the month.
When to reach for the spelled-out month instead
The counter-argument to ISO on a rubber stamp is that it looks like a system wrote it. On a hand-signed letter or a customer-facing receipt that reads as cold. In that case 04 MAR 2026 removes the same ambiguity by a different route, since a month spelled as letters cannot be swapped with a day, while still reading like something a person put there. GOV.UK writes dates as 4 March 2026 in its own web content, with no comma before the year, and that is the last option in the picker. It is a house style for GOV.UK content, not a rule for British paperwork generally.

The 03/04 problem
Write 03/04/2026 on a page and you have written two dates. Read it the United States way, month first, and it is 3 April. Read it the way the United Kingdom and most of Europe do, day first, and it is 4 March. Nothing on the paper resolves it. The reader guesses from context, which works right up until the context is a scanned invoice with a payment deadline on it.
The exposure is bigger than people assume. Any day from the 1st to the 12th can be read as a month, so in a given month eleven dates are ambiguous once you set aside the one where the day and the month happen to be the same number. Eleven days in each of twelve months is 132 days a year, a little over a third of them, on which a day-first or month-first stamp says one thing to you and another to a reader with the opposite habit. Note the scope: this is a problem with those two formats specifically. YYYY-MM-DD, YYYYMMDD and any format with the month spelled out are unaffected, which is the whole argument for using one of them.
The builder above works this out live rather than warning you in general terms. Pick either all-numeric format and, on a date that can be misread, it tells you the other calendar day your digits describe. On the 13th and after, the warning does not appear, because there is nothing to warn about.
Why this is a bigger search outside the US
One figure shaped this page. Pulled from SEMrush on 25 July 2026, "date stamp generator" shows about 30 monthly searches in its US database against roughly 420 worldwide, so most of the volume sits outside the United States by more than a factor of ten. The broader term "date stamp" runs the same direction on the same date: roughly 3,600 monthly in the US database against 23,200 worldwide. Those are counts of searches, not of people, and they are a tool's rounded estimates rather than measurements.
That is a fact about search volume and nothing more. We cannot see who runs those searches or why, so we are not going to tell you. It is simply why this date stamp generator leads with seven formats and a table of who reads each one, instead of a date picker and a single American default. MM/DD/YYYY is in the list, and if it is what your office uses, nothing here is telling you to stop.
What this date stamp generator does not do
It draws artwork. It does not make a physical dater, sell one, or know what your stamp manufacturer's frames measure. The face here is 560 by 320 units at a fixed aspect ratio, and we have no idea whether that matches anything they cut. Send them the SVG rather than the PNG: it is vector, so rescaling it to whatever they do cut costs no quality.
It is also not advice about records. A stamped date is a mark you made on a document. What that mark proves, how long you have to keep the document, and whether a stamp is acceptable at all in your process are questions about your rules and your jurisdiction, and this tool has no opinion on any of them.
Two smaller limits worth knowing. The stamp is drawn in Georgia and Courier New rather than the display face used elsewhere on this site, because an exported file that references a webfont it cannot carry arrives looking nothing like the preview. That is a trade, not a fix: the exported SVG names those two fonts, and wherever it is opened without them the viewer substitutes something else and the letterforms change. The PNG has no such problem, because the type is already pixels by then. And there is no calendar logic beyond the date you choose: no business-day arithmetic, no time, no auto-advancing. It stamps the day you tell it to stamp.
